If we haven't met before, my pen name is Clove, but you can also call me by my real name Megan. I'm so thankful that you stopped by on my blog today!
I'm a Korean-American Christian who dabbles in YA fiction and lyrics. I've been writing for a hot second now, since around 2010 or so.
My Myers-Briggs is ENTJ, my Enneagram is 8w9, and my homegrown denomination is Reformed Baptist (although I'll never forget the kindness of my Reformed Presbyterian family!).
In addition to God and personality assessments, I also love bulk-cooking for small villages, jogging excessively for no reason, and going on dates with this smoking-hot genius who keeps calling himself my husband. (Pretty sure he's not actually my husband, because no one so smoking-hot and genius would agree to marry me. I'll update when the jig is up, but for now, I'm playing along.)
I'm currently bunkered down in the coastal Georgia area.
Growing up, I had to navigate a racially-homogenous suburb in the South. Classically and somewhat predictably, I learned as an Asian female that others expected me to keep quiet and mostly to myself. Of course, God likes to play jokes, so He gave me the animated spirit of talk-show host with the combativeness of a cornered rat. You can imagine how successfully I was able to stay out of trouble.
Within that tension, I took to writing as a safe space. In words, I could process my odd experiences and volatile emotions as expansively as I desired. I could paint alternative worlds, featuring octomaid castles and tea-addicted dark elves. And most importantly, I could yell at my older brother about all the reasons he was wrong, and win 100% of these fictional arguments, without anyone ever knowing what a demonic child I was. (Sorry, Josh. Now you know why I never let you read my notebooks. ;))
In many ways, my writing has been a source of fresh perspective for me. Sometimes, all I needed was just to take to the sky for a bit, get lost in the clouds, look down below, and find my path forward again.
I started a writing blog back in 2013. In 2015, I self-published my first novelette The Immortals. And then around 2018, I took a small hiatus to wrap up college and establish my career (go, Georgia Tech jello packets). Now, I'm more ready than ever to write again for an audience!
I absolutely love connecting with new people. If you ever want to chat for a bit, I would be thrilled if you contacted me. Edits, brainstorms, and suggested plot twists are all welcomed, but rants on feline affection will receive highest priority.
At the risk of waxing eloquent (which I believe is ironically what authors are paid to do), I'll end the monologue there. As always, thank you so much again for taking time to read the wings of my words! You readers are a huge part of what makes writing so much fun, and I genuinely cherish your presence.
Hope to see you again soon!
~ Clove
